Patrick Cunningham has been influenced by a love of art and history which has helped him develop a philosophical way of looking at life and the world around him. Born in Southern California in 1956, Patrick knew at an early age what he wanted to do with his life. His childhood passion for which he,s known. Patrick took up painting at the age of twelve. Shortly thereafter he began training with a private tutor, learning old master techniques Oil painting quickly became his primary medium because of its boundless versatility. Portraiture, impressionism, and figurative abstraction all became part of his repetoire. At the age of 18, he received an art scholarship to Marymount Palos Verdes College in California. Patrick believes that learning is a life long pursuit that is essential to one's growth as an artist. Some of his most recent studies have taken him to Ceri,Italy, a small village in Tuscany where eh studied fresco technique under Italian masters, as well as France where he studied mural design. He is most versatile artist working in a variety of media, technique, and style. In some of his contemporary abstracts he has been known taste works on fire for the finish caused by the chemical reaction. In his studio warehouse he is capable of working on extremely large canvases, (sometimes as large as 25 feet x 35 feet) which he ultimately attaches to walls or ceilings as murals. Patrick's work resides in numerous private collections across the United States and in Europe.
